KC Dietz
KC started rowing in 1977 for the University of Massachusetts. She was inspired by prominent National Team athletes who trained side by side with her and the club team. As a smaller athlete, she became interested in integrating the technical, physical and psychological aspects of training toward a competitive advantage. A path was carved to the present moment.
She went on to compete at the National team level, and like many athletes started coaching as a way to stay connected. Her love of coaching led her to leading collegiate teams, such as Northeastern University and Radcliffe (Harvard) Lightweight women’s crews, to National titles from 1979-86.
She was involved in starting the National Lightweight Women’s program in 1981, as the Lightweight Chair at the then, National Women's Rowing Association. Lightweight women became an official team starting in 1984, with inclusion at the World Championships in Montreal, Canada. She also was an assistant coach to the team in 1983 and 1987.
Currently KC is the President of the Board at the Lake Washington Rowing Club in Seattle. She continues to coach competitive, experienced Masters athletes, and row in all sorts of water conditions in and around the Salish Sea.
