WELCOME - Let’s Get Better! USRowing’s 2020 Annual Convention is going virtual this December! Although all of us would rather be meeting in person, COVID-19 had other plans. No worries though. In fact, this year’s convention promises to be bigger than ever with brand new diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) training that will be available free of charge to all of our members along with our ever-popular Para/Adaptive, Coaching Education, Business of Rowing and Referee tracks. And the best part is all of this great content is available from the convenience of home!

We’ll focus on getting better across the spectrum -- improving as coaches, creating more inclusive boathouses, strengthening our organizations as we come back from COVID-19, enhancing our physical and mental well-being, and more. While 2020 has been a challenging year, this year’s Annual Convention serves as a springboard to start 2021 off stronger, healthier, wiser … and better!

Kate Hebdon

Hebdon Hammers
Director of Rowing, Head Masters Coach
Olympia, WA
I started my rowing career at Belmont Rowing Center in my late 20s by being placed into the coxswain seat not knowing bow from stern nor port from starboard. I even counted to 11. In only 6 years,  I've moved around a lot: 2 years coxing to learning how to sweep (1 year), (poorly) teaching myself how to scull (I've gotten better over 3 years with some stellar coaches), to coaching (2 years), to running my former small club. Started as the Director of Rowing at Olympia Area Rowing in August and it's been a whirlwind ever since. These days, I get to row once in a while, but hopefully C2's Holiday Challenge will get me back on the right track!

So I'm new on the block and eager to improve and learn more. A graphic designer by trade with a heavy dose of project management, I'm very happy to listen and learn from those more experienced/knowledgeable than myself.
